Creative-first flow

Creative-first flow is most useful when you launch multiple campaigns that share the same creative sets, for example, when you're testing the same playables across several apps or geos, or when you want consolidated performance reporting at the creative-set level.

Overview

The Creative-first flow provides a new, streamlined path for setting up app campaigns in Axon.

You build your creative sets first, then attach them to one or more campaigns in a single step. The same creative set can power multiple campaigns at once, so your asset tracking and performance history stay consolidated under a single source of truth.

The existing campaign-first workflow remains fully functional. Creative-first is simply a faster path that reduces duplicate work and keeps your performance data cleaner.

Key features & workflows

1. Creating and managing sets from the Media page

You no longer need to open a campaign to build creative assets. You can do it directly from the Media page.

  • Direct creation: Select any approved video, HTML, or image asset on the Media page and click Create creative set to bundle them immediately.
  • Bulk asset management: Add or remove assets from one or multiple creative sets in bulk, all from the Media page.

2. The dedicated Creative Sets tab

Axon Ads Manager now features a dedicated Creative Sets tab in the main left-hand navigation menu.

  • Cross-campaign visibility: The dashboard lists every creative set with a column that shows how many, and which active campaigns are using that set.
  • Global editing & multi-campaign syncing: Click Edit on a creative set from this page to swap assets or to adjust settings globally. After you confirm your changes, they propagate to every associated campaign instantly.
  • Add or remove from campaigns: Use the + (Add to campaigns) and (Remove from campaigns) buttons on the Creative Sets tab to manage which campaigns a set runs in, without having to open each campaign.

3. Streamlined campaign setup

  • Pre-filled campaigns: From the Creative Sets directory, select your pre-built sets and trigger Create campaign. The campaign creator opens with your chosen creative sets pre-loaded.
  • Reuse instead of clone: When you add creatives inside an existing campaign, you'll now be prompted to add an existing creative set (reuse) rather than create an independent copy. (You can still import a unique copy if you need to split-test distinct landing destinations.)

Targeting and custom product pages

Once a creative set is built, you can customize it for a localized audience or direct users to a specific store page after they interact with the ad.

Advanced targeting

In the creative set settings, configure Language or Country/Region to target a localized audience.

Custom product page

If you want to direct your audience to a custom product page after they interact with the ad, configure Custom product page targeting in the creative set.

Android

Enter the value of the listing parameter from your custom store listing URL.

For example, for the URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.example.example&listing=eb2b3606-2fef-4aab-a54e-b2e5547c9bc3

The value you enter is eb2b3606-2fef-4aab-a54e-b2e5547c9bc3.

iOS

Enter the value of the ppid parameter from your custom product page's URL.

For example, for the URL: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/example-appname/id1234567890?ppid=eb2b3606-2fef-4aab-a54e-b2e5547c9bc3

The value you enter is eb2b3606-2fef-4aab-a54e-b2e5547c9bc3.

API limitations & delivery behavior

Note: the Management API does not yet fully support the architecture of the Creative-first flow.

  • UI-exclusive actions: You cannot add a creative set to additional campaigns or remove a creative set from an associated campaign via the API. You must complete such mapping adjustments through the Ads Manager UI.
  • Global status synchronization: When a creative set is shared across different campaigns, it points to the same underlying asset object. As a result, if you change the delivery status via the API, the change executes globally across all campaigns:
    • Pausing a multi-campaign creative set via the API pauses it across all active campaigns.
    • Setting live a paused multi-campaign creative set via the API resumes it across all active campaigns.

If you'd like a creative set to stop showing in one campaign but still appear in others, remove it from that specific campaign rather than pausing it.
